AESA participated to the Launching of the Deepening of the interim Economic Partnership Agreement (IEPA) Negotiation between the EU and the five ESA Countries, namely Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles and Zimbabwe, which took place in Mauritius between the 1st and the 4th of October 2019.
AESA has been implementing since 2018 the Technical Assistance for the iEPA Coordination Mechanism of the ESA-5 signatory Countries, and through its team of experts led by Amb. Shree Servansing, provides technical support for the production of joint negotiating positions, and logistical support for the organization of Negotiation meetings. AESA organized the ESA-5 Internal Preparatory Meeting, and the first 2-days Technical Negotiation meeting on Deepening of the iEPA on the 3rd and 4th October, held between ESA-5 Delegates and European Commission Negotiators, and in presence to the EU Ambassador to Mauritius, Mr Vincent Degert.
Mr Luca Martelengo was in Mauritius on behalf of AESA for the organization of the aforementioned meetings, and was present at the ceremony for the official launching of ESA 5-EU EPA Negotiation on deepening, held on the 2nd October, 2019, and Presided by the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Pravind Jugnauth, and Deputy Director General of DG Trade Helena König.
