“Better Training for Safer Food" (BTSF) - “Plant health surveys” training in Bari

From 04 November until 07 November, AESA organized “Plant health surveys” training in Bari, which was mainly addressed to senior staff responsible for planning, conduct, analysis and reporting of surveys, from Member States, Candidate, potential Candidates and EEA/EFTA countries.

The main purpose of the training was to provide a clear and harmonised understanding of the key elements of the relevant International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No. 6 and 8 and best practices for planning surveys, in particular defining their objectives and statistical basis, their implementation and their reporting.

AESA organizes these trainings within the “Better Training for Safer Food" (BTSF) project, an initiative of the European Commission’s Health and Food Safety Directorate-General (DG SANTE) aimed at organising a European Union (EU) training strategy in the areas of food law, feed law, animal health and animal welfare rules, as well as plant health rules.

During this training, the experts involved, were accompanied by AESA’s project Manager Marco Vacirca and representatives of the Regional Plant Protection Service of Apulia Region to visit the Olive areas affected by Xylella fastidiosa bacterium.
