Plant Health

With its vast large experience in the field, AESA has over the past ten years been involved in the transfer of know-how to support National Authorities in the creation of Phytosanitary Inspection Services and in making the systems operational and sustainable in line with European Union (EU) and World Trade Organization (WTO) norms. AESA has also assisted countries in the establishment of State Phytosanitary Laboratories (SPL) and their associated diagnostic services, ensuring that those services are fully integrated within an overall Plant Health System.

AESA is able to respond rapidly and with well designed proposals in the following specialised areas:

  • Establishment of National Integrated Phytosanitary Authorities and State Phytosanitary Laboratories
  • Capacity building and strengthening of Phytosanitary Inspection Systems
  • Protocols and procedures for inspection systems for phytosanitary products
  • Pest Risk Analysis (PRA)
  • Plant health protection measures
  • Plant health database software and management
  • Plant health services and surveillance according to IPPC
  • Training of the staff in the fields
  • Phytosanitary legislation review in alignment to EU and WTO norms
  • Traceability systems
  • Standardization, certification and accreditation
  • Design and delivery of training on plant health and related matters
