Description of the project and Services provided:

The general purpose to provide a full set of information by carrying out series studies that will strengthen producers for determining supply, demand and opportunities for market diversification, considering every actor in the organic value chain. The studies will assist in mapping the organic value chains and markets.

The specific objectives for lot 1 are to first stimulate market dynamics and then establish a market potential estimation of vegetables & fruits that are (or could be) grown in Tanzania: Tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, onions, eggplant, banana, pineapples, mangoes; focus on CONVENTIONAL + compare with ORGANIC.


The specific objectives for lot 3 are the distribution channel, the focus on ORGANIC + compare with CONVENTIONAL
Trade chain, the focus on selected organic vegetables & fruit with a high market potential
Market Insights and the focus on organic.

The results of the project are:

  • That the study will provide the producer and farmer associations with understanding about the market dynamics (demand, supply, pricing…) and value chain of organic vegetables & fruit in the different distribution channels (retail, supermarkets, hotels, end-consumers, …). The research findings will be used to promote and organize marketing logistics for linking farmers to buyers.
