The General objective of BTSF is to ensure a high level of consumer protection throughout the EU internal market and to increase levels of trade in safe food across the globe by the implementation of efficient, objective and adequate official controls. This objective is achieved by training the staff of the competent authorities, offering a better network and on-going dialogue with partners from both within, and outside, the European Union, thus contributing to a high level of expertise and competence.
The training on "Food Hygiene at Primary Production" aims more specifically at raising awareness and at improving the understanding of hygiene provisions at the level of primary production within the competent authorities of the Member States, ensuring a better use of knowledge of key elements, disseminating best practices for official controls on the farm level in all sectors of food business rearing domestic land animals and enabling the exchange of experience in order to increase the level of expertise and harmonisation at this stage of production of the food chain.
