Description of the project and Services provided:

"The Programme to Support the Education Sector in Nicaragua (PROSEN)", is intended to contribute to the improvement of education in Nicaragua through the fulfilment of the education strategy objectives, with emphasis on fair and equal access to quality education.

The specific objectives of this project are:

  1. The elaboration of the Conceptual and Methodological Framework (MCM) of the Planning and Monitoring work system of the Ministry of Education (MINED)  at national level, strengthening its institutional management, optimizing   the design of its process and creating conditions for the analysis of relevant information. 
  2. Improve the accessibility and completion of basic education by providing substantial opportunities of fair and equal access to quality education in rural areas and vulnerable communities, through the improvement of infrastructures and educational facilities, maximizing teachers and teaching effectiveness and strengthening the education management system, in particular, the reinforcement of the institutional capacity to "ensure efficient and effective education management”.

The results to be issued are:

  • Strengthening of the institutional capacity of MINED for the effective and efficient management of education at central and local level in line with the financing agreement signed between the European Union and the Government of Nicaragua.
  • Strengthening of the human and institutional capacity of MINED in three well defined areas of action:
  1. Capacity for Educational Management;
  2. The Monitoring and Evaluation System;
  3. Community participation.
  • In the context of the strengthening of the Management Sub-System of Planning and Monitoring, through the project PROSEN will improve and redesign the methodology and workflows which provide education management and promote human development, making best use of information and communication technology, consistent with the PEE 2011- 2015 and the educational model currently being employed.
