The project will supply technical assistance to various Philippine Government bodies as well as civil-society organisations, with the aim of improving the country's integration into international trade. The project has 3 components: Component I: Development of Trade Policies ( component carried out by Agriconsulting), Component II: Harmonisation of Standards and Compliance with Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures, Component III: Facilitation of Trade. The component I include the activities: training, tutoring, research and the supply of advice to specialised experts. The project will help improve the collection of data and include an impact analysis, market surveys and an analysis of trade regulations. The technical assistance and training will include: (i), seminars, conferences and similar events, (ii) the identification of best practices in the area of policy formulation, (iii) the training of trade negotiators and the reinforcement of the public and private sectors in the area of international trade legislation, and (iv) ex ante/ex post evaluations of the impact of the liberalisation of trade; (v) training of government bodies in donor coordination and (vi) the implementation of an analysis of the impact on poverty of the trade agreements, with a view to minimising negative impacts.
