International trade is recognized as a powerful engine of economic growth and poverty reduction in developing countries.
Inclusive economic growth is essential for the generation of public revenues needed to implement policies and deliver services to the citizens as well as for the generation of private income. Increased participation in the global trade trading system is therefore a cornerstone of national and, in particular, regional economic development strategies throughout the ACP region.
The TradeCom II programme builds in the extensive experience gained during the implementation of both Trade.Com I (2004-2012) and the ACP MTS programmes. In order to realize economies of scale and scope the new TradeCom II programme will target both regional and multilateral levels, thus combining the work previously carried out by two separate project management units.
